Bunnies are prey creatures. They are easily scared. We have these rules to keep the participants and the bunnies safe for the whole visit. Our bunnies have been in parties since 2024 and have lots of experience with loud noises to help them feel comfortable. Still if children are loud bunnies will get scared and run, hide, bite or poop. In extreme cases loud noises can shock a bunny into instant death. This is why we take the precautions we do and try to teach our bunnies about as many 'scary' things as possible. They learn indoor noises like vacuuming and outdoor noises like dogs barking and power tools. This keeps them from getting scared too often.
Our rabbits are trained to follow a few simple commands like 'up' when we pick them up. This keeps them from getting scared about us grabbing them. They also learn 'down' when we are putting them down. Some of our rabbits know 'come here' or will come to their name being called. Almost all of the rabbits will come to treats but during some parties they may be too full or nervous to want to eat. The rabbits also learn signs for some of the commands like a talking hand means 'pets'. Which they seem to catch on to better than word commands. Most of the rabbits will sit for an hour in a participants lap without much coaxing. The best way to keep them in your lap is to pet them nicely from head to tail. Older participants will get the option to hold them close on their chests but with the understanding they may get scratched if the bunnies gets tired of being held or sometimes from transferring from one person to another.
