One day I stumbled accross the cutest little fluffy rabbit and I started researching them. I researched every kind of rabbit and looked far and wide to adopt one for our household. I wanted a Lionhead; a harlequin or magpie colored lionhead. I requested a rabbit from a breeder a few hours away from me. About a month later she called and said she was getting out of rabbit breeding and she had a trio I could buy instead that would definitely produce harlequin and magpie babies if I was interested. I discussed it with my husband and we picked them up that weekend.
I started with breeding lionheads just to get a color I wanted to keep. After our first breeding the babies were so adorable but they did not have the colors I was looking for. After a couple more breeding's we started keeping a few knowing that eventually our females would have to be replaced and new lines brought in. We continued to better our lionheads with other lines until...
A few years into breeding and we have re-homed many lionheads to wonderful new parents but we kept several sweet and beautiful babies for pets and parties. I decided I also wanted to share different breeds of rabbit to people because I watched people get the wrong breeds of rabbit because someone told them they were buying one type but actually gave them something else. I have also seen 'breeders' make breeds like 'lion-lops' by breeding a lionhead with a holland lop. This is not a real lion-lop rabbit because it is one pairing. A real lion-lop should be bred several times to get closer to what other breeders are making in order to get the rabbit into the ARBA. There are several breeds of rabbit now days that are not in the ARBA yet most have several breeders throughout the U.S. and Canada who are working to develop a standardized size to get them recognized in the ARBA. Some breeders charge more than you would expect but knowing what questions to ask and how to get the right rabbit for you family will help you find the right rabbit breeder.
A neuter/spay for a rabbit costs $150-$450 in our area.
I have paid $0 to $350 for a single rabbit - depending on rarity, breed, sex, color etc.
We have neutered every male for our parties and some of our females have been spayed. We now own 10 different breeds of rabbit that we get to share with you, your family, and your friends! We can guarantee at least three breeds of rabbit will attend your party.
If you want information on rabbits, text us! we can help you find the right rabbit for you and or your family. We have raised; Silver fox, Lionhead, Holland Lop, Velveteen Lop, Continental Giant, Giant Flemish, Polish, Netherland, Angora, Rex, and Mini Plush Lops.
Billion-hare Bunnies was established in 2024.
I had seen a few videos and posts about bunny parties. I started researching them. I contacted a few people within Idaho who were doing similar parties and I decided we could do better for our rabbits and our participants.
I started researching Rabbit socialization. I purchased the bunny bible and started looking into training our rabbits. Rabbits will do almost anything for a human they trust. So sometimes commands they learn don't work as well when others use them - so we practice with other family members calling them and petting them. We have about an 85% success rate on follow through on commands including known and unknown people.
Getting to know rabbits over the years has taught me that they are highly missunderstood. Lionheads are one of the most misunderstood and miss cared for rabbits. They have different and distinct personalities and do best when hand raised with lots of pets and snuggles from birth on. Most learn commands rather quickly and can be trained to come, be picked up easily without kicking and be potty trained. These rabbits should be indoor pets but a well-insulated outdoor area can also be successful and keep them happy and healthy. The need to help others better care for their rabbits drove us to begin a business.
We decided to make Billion-hare Bunnies a business to bring some insite into rabbits, their behaviors, and their personalities. They enjoy going to parties as much as the participants that get to see them. They love all the attention and extra snacks when they get home.
Our bunnies have gone to nursing homes, done photo opps, gone to the grocery store, attend community events and visit elementary schools. We make sure our bunnies have lots of experiences outside of their home life to keep them comfortable and happy.
What we do differently:
We put the safety of our Rabbits FIRST
We take extra time to train our rabbits
potty training
command training
We teach our rabbits socilization
they get along better with other rabbits and don't have to be bonded
We bring any rabbits over the age of 8 weeks old that have been trained
We use a large enclosure for the rabbits to run around and for the participants to sit in all together
Billion-hare Bunnies:
We wanted your experience with Billion-hare Bunnies to be the most unique rabbit experience available.
At Billion-hare Bunnies, we do things differently. We do what is best for our rabbits. We now have three socialized groups of rabbits. Rabbits that are socialized can live together happily. We are able to bring a group of rabbits that get along together for a party and all participants can be together to enjoy this experience.
We have very happy rabbits that can let you know if they want pets or to be left alone. Most of our rabbits can enjoy an entire hour just being held and pet because they enjoy it. When we don't have parties we are giving them as much love and attention as we can - and they always want more.
We want your experience with us to be a bit magical so we have included add-on options such as photo's with rabbits where we bring a whole back drop and seating to get a great photo to remember your time with our rabbits.
We also offer Tea parties with rabbits and adult experiences that you can BYOB. Thanks to my handy husband we now have a beautiful tea table for families to have tea parties with the rabbits and feel a bit like 'Alice in Wonderland'.
Currently, Traveling to homes and venues is just the start and eventually we would like to have a facility so more people can enjoy our rabbits and the rabbits can stay in a safe and secure location without traveling all the time.
After securing a location we would like to eventually franchise our business. This would mean lots of rabbit training for me and eventually traveling to help get franchise locations started. I am so excited for this next adventure and I know my family will be there to help and support in any way me or the rabbits need.
Hope to see you all over the country one day!
I am mostly going to let everyone know why I am qulaified to share these experiences with you and your families;
I have been careing for children in one capacity or another for about 29 years; helping with in-home daycares, working at daycare facilities, working in the school district raising my own children and helping other people raise theirs.
I have certifications in teaching Special needs children and I have spent over ten years creating programs and learning tools for children on IEP's, 504's and with un-diagnosed learning disabilities. I have worked closely with children on the Autism Spectrum, those with vision imparements, those that are non-verbal and other more common diagnosis. I am well trained to help any child with special needs inside our rabbit enclosure or to assit with an individualized plan for your child and their bunny visit.( I will happily discuss options and ideas with parents in order to share this experience with their children. )
I have been raising rabbits for over five years. There have been a lot of joys and a lot of sorrow and sometimes it's overwhelming but my husband has been a great supporter of my 'rabbit addiciton'. He has built and re-built five rabbit homes, created play areas for all of them, added lofts for storage, built several bins for hay storage, and added running water into the main barn and a drainage system- all to make my life a little easier. He does so much more than I can probably list here for our rabbits! He pitches in anytime I have a task to do with them whether that is feeding and watering on a daily basis or deep-cleaning all of the spaces where our rabbits live. Rabbits could be taken care of more simply than we care for our rabbits but we want our rabbits to be a joy for everyone that meets them. We work really hard to make sure our rabbits like kids, adults and other rabbits. We train them to know their name and to do anything expected of them; for some that is as simple as 'come here' and for other's it's 'lift-up' to get hair trimmers under their neck to finish their hair-cuts. We also 'noise' train them to know uncommon noises. Our rabbits all learn house noises, other animals noises and construction noises. There is very little that will frighten them on our farm.
